About me
Dr. Heather Caponi is an educational leader with 30 years of experience in independent schools. Currently serving as the associate head of school at Ensworth, she transitioned into this executive role in 2023 after initially joining the community as lower school head in 2020. Her tenure at Ensworth has been defined by structural innovation, including the design of a new faculty onboarding program and a collaborative leadership framework for teachers.
Previously, Dr. Caponi spent 24 years at Brookfield Academy in Wisconsin. There, she balanced classroom teaching across multiple grades with administrative growth, eventually serving as the primary and lower school head. A recognized innovator, she received the Creative Thinking in Management Award from ISM for her work in professional development.
Dr. Caponi holds a B.A. from Colby College, an M.Ed. from the University of San Diego, and an Ed.D. from Arizona State University, where she researched teacher resistance to change.
